Movie Night: Midnight in Paris
Posted on 21:42 by Unknown
If you've ever wished to venture into romantic 1920s Paris, then Midnight in Paris is the movie for you. Midnight in Paris is set in modern-day Paris, France, where Gil Pender (Owen Wilson) travels to Paris on a vacation with his fiancee, Inez (Rachel McAdams) and her parents. Gil is a Hollywood screenwriter struggling to write a novel. When the clock strikes midnight, Gil is transported back to 1920s Paris. Here he meets art and litertaure heavyweights like Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, and Ernest Hemingway. He gets feedback on how to make his novel a hit, while also falling in love with Picasso's mistress, Adriana who longs to live the 1890s. However, in his time travels, he learns that no matter what time period you think you would like better, it will soon become the unsatisfying present you were trying to run away from.
I liked this movie because it was a very intriguing idea for a story. I like how it focuses on art and literature when there was an artisanal quality that many novels and such don't have today. I thought it was an creative yet classic story with a captivating plot and a romantic undertone. I would recommend this movie if you are wanting something inspirational and something romantic. Ah, doux mystére d'amour.
